Mrs. Cecelia Merritt Bowen, 48, well known Waycrossan, died Sunday night at the local Nursing Home following an extended illness .

A native and long life resident of Waycross and was a daughter of her (late) father Charles Carson Merritt and her mother Nelle Aileen Porter Merritt.

Cecelia was associated with the Seaboard Coastline Railroad Company as a Steno-Clerk and was formerly associated with the Veterans Service Office.
She was vice president of the Waycross Pilot Club, Waycross Chaper National Association of Railroad Business Women, member of the First Baptist Church and a Sunday School teacher in the Beginner's Department.

Survived by her mother: Mrs. Nelle Aileen Merritt of Waycross
her sister: Mrs. Mary Nell O'Neal of Waycross
and numerous other relatives.
(her husband) Mr. George Edward Bowen of Waycross.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 4 pm at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Withers following burial into Oakland Cemetery.
PALLBEARERS:
J.P. Peterson , McBride Bryant , Horace Blount , Howard Young , Carl Pickett and Earl Jones.

Miles-Odum Funeral Home is in charge.
