Funeral and memorial services for Lanita Bowen Harrison, age 58 and for her husband, Walter Harrison, age 79, were held on January 3rd, at Gilbert's Funeral Chapel, in Orofino, Idaho. Graveside services will held at 10:00am on January 4th, at the Bowen family plot, Dayton City Cemetery.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Harrison were killed Thursday, December 29, 1983 when the car they were travelling in slid from Highway 12 into a river. Mrs. Harrison's body was recovered shortly after the accident and it is presumed that Mr. Harrison drowned at the same time. Lanita Bowen Harrison was born May 19, 1925 at Dayton, the daughter of Robert and Esther Bowen. She was raised on her parents farm. In 1941 She married John Blessinger. They lived in Dayton until 1948, when they moved to Craigmont, Idaho. There she attended Lewis Clark State College and later the University of Idaho, where she received her degree in Education. The couple moved to Weippe in 1960, where they farmed. He worked in the lumber mills, and she taught in the Weippe elementary school. In 1974 they moved to Orofino, where she had taught elementary school since. The Blessingers were later divorced. She married Walter Harrison on July 24, 1977.
