Mrs. Robert (Esther)Bowen 58, school teacher in Starbuck for about 15 years, passed away Friday, March 8, at Brining Memorial Hospital. She has been a hospital patient since February 13 and had been in ill health for some time. She was preceded in death February 26 by her husband, Robert E. Bowen. She was born October 11, 1904, at Cunningham and was married to Robert E. Bowen January 10, 1925, in Newport. She was teacher before her marriage and returned to the profession after her family was grown. Esther received her permanent teaching certificate from Eastern Washington State College in 1955. She taught at Starbuck until illness forced her retirement.
