C E Bogert Letter to Levi Sherwood
9 April 1872
Double and Triple Click on Letter to the Right
Charles' Mother Sally and Levi Sherwood Wife, Maria Yeury Sherwood were sisters or first cousins.
Since the birth dates of Sally Ann at Kakiat was Feb 26, 1811 and a Susan Ann was March 26, 1811 there might be an argument that Susan Ann born March 26th might have been Sally Ann who married Bogert because her son sent a special letter to her directly.
Notice of Charles' Mother's Death
Many thanks to the Rockland County Historical Society for Granting Permission to add this letter to Charles' Memorial.
It was found in a home that was being renovated in Rockland County

Letter Sent to Levi Sherwood in Monsey, Rockland County, New York on April 9, 1872 from Charles Edmund Bogert.
I sent a telegram to you this morning announcing the death of Mother but fear it might be at "Spring Valley", I send you this note.
All day yesterday {not able to read}. She talked all day long, and it was 10 o'clock last night before she became anyway quieted. She then fell into a light sleep and remained in one position until about 5 o'clock this morning when we noticed she was failing very fast and before six o'clock she had passed away
Father would be pleased if you and Mrs. Sherwood would be present at the Service.
Service will be a the house, notice in tomorrow's papers after which we will go to the ground.
Please notify me who you may think would like to know of it.
To Levi Sherwood, Esquire
Signed C. E. Bogert
