Elmer L. Bland,92,died at his residence in Groveland Wednesday following a long illness. The Bulloch County native lived most of his life in Liberty County and had been living in Bryan County for several years. he was a retired farmer and owner and operator of Bland's Grocery in Groveland.
Survivors include two sons, Carlos A. Bland of Groveland and Elmer M. Bland of Pooler; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; a step-sister, Mrs. Hattie Towels of Bloomingdale.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Friday in Beard's Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Gilbert Gibbs officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons: Allen Bland, Gene Warren, Billy Bland, Jimmy Rogers, C.A. Bland, Jr., and Ferrell Bland.
Nesmith Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
