MRS. JOE STINER DIES LAST WEDNESDAY EVENING
Sobrina Billups, youngest child and only daughter of William and Patsy Billups, was born in Scotland County, Missouri, Dec. 25, 1860, and died at her home in Ridgeway at six o'clock, the evening of July 2, 1930 at the age of 69 years, 6 months and 7 days.
The family moved to Sullivan County where she spent her girlhood days and was married to Robert Pickerel. To this union one daughter was born who died in infancy. She was again married to Joseph Stiner on Oct. 1, 1901 and they made their home on a farm for about nine years in the White Oak neighborhood. Upon leaving the farm they moved to their present home in this city where they have lived until now.
Mrs. Stiner was of such a bright, cheerful and happy disposition. Even when she was suffering she remembered and asked about other who were sick. She was always interested in the welfare of her friends and ready and anxious to help anyone who needed help. She could count her friends by her many acquaintances and will be sadly missed in the community.
She was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church and had lived a consistent Christian life.
Mrs. Stiner had been in poor health the past six years and had suffered terribly much of the time though she had been able to be up and around until the day of her death, so while everyone who knew her knew she was far from well, he death came so sudden it was a shock to everyone. She took sick about four o'clock Wednesday morning and was dead before the sun set.
Besides her aged companion there remains two step-children, Louis Burton Stiner and Mrs. Mary Herold, and four step-grandchildren, Greta and Mildren Stiner and Arthena and Arnold Herold, all of Harrison County. Of the paternal family of seven children, four brothers preceded her in death, and two brothers, J.W. Billups of Santa Cruz, California, and Crate Billups of Carrollton, Missouri, survive.
Funeral services were held from the Christian Church Thursday afternoon and interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
