"Mrs. Ella S. Belk, age 95, of Monroe, died Sunday, April 13, 2003 at Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Monroe. Mrs. Belk was born in Union County on August 18, 1907, daughter of the late Walter Lee Starnes and Sarah Laney Starnes. She was a homemaker. She was married to the late Leo Everette Belk, Sr., who passed in 1965. She was preceded in death by five sons, Clarence (Buddy) Belk, Leo E. Belk, Jr., Roy (Britt) Belk, Lukie Belk and Hayne Belk; a grandchild, David Wayne Belk in 1969 and a granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Belk, in 1977.
