Funeral rites for Mrs. Wilmer Barton, 51 year old resident of the Sardis Community, who died Friday night in a Winnfield hospital following a brief illness, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Sardis Baptist Church.

The Rev. Ray Teal, Rev. C. R. Weatherford, and Rev. Jack Jones officiated at the services. Burial was in the Brown Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Mrs. Barton was a lifelong resident of Winn Parish and a member of the Atlanta Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Gerald and Clyde Barton of Winnfield, and Sam Barton of Atlanta; four daughters, Mrs. Jerry Guynes of Joyce, Mrs. Walter Bartley of Atlanta, Mrs. Melvin Horn of Shreveport, and Miss Frances Barton of Winnfield; two brothers, D. W. Taylor of Winnfield and Ray Taylor of Winnfield; seven sisters, Mrs. Roland Powers of Shreveport, Mrs. H. M. Evans of Pineville, Mrs. Reginald Gore of New Orleans, Mrs. Allen Bennett of Tioga, Mrs. Howard Powell of Hineston, Mrs. Ernest Spikes of Winnfield, Mrs. Charles Whittington of Ferriday; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Taylor of Winnfield; and eight grandchildren.
