Robert “Pete” Bartlett, 86, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 16, 2001, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00
a.m. until noon at Kleine Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Aurora City Cemetery, Aurora, Nebraska, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2001.
Following the burial, a time of fellowship and sharing of memories will be held at their home at #69, Kuesters Lake. Memorials are suggested to the donor’s
choice.
Pete was born June 13, 1915 at Riverview, Nebraska, the
son of Jay and Alice (McComas) Bartlett. On September 26,
1934 he was united in marriage to Emigene Christensen in a ranch wedding north of Newport, Nebraska.
They ranched in the Sand Hills until 1946, then moved to the Harvard, Hastings, and the Aurora area. At this time he was a Heavy Equipment operator and was involved in a cattle-feeding operation.
In 1960 they moved to a farm northwest of Aurora in the Phillips area and remained there until he retired from farming on March 1, 1980. At this time they moved to #42 Kuesters Lake, Grand Island, which they had purchased and used as a summer home since 1974. Three months after retiring, the June 3, 1980 tornado damaged their home so they moved to #69 Kuesters Lake.
He was a member of the Platt-Duetsche Society, a Charter Member of the Grand Island Saddle Club, and, was a Golden Eagle in the Fraternal Order Of Eagles #378. He also enjoyed hunting.
Robert is survived by his wife, Emigene, of Grand Island, two daughters; Ramona Miles of Omaha, Nebraska and Judy Jacobsen of Aurora, Nebraska, two grandsons, three granddaughters, eleven great-grandchildren, two
step-great-grandchildren, and two sister-in-laws.
Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers; Roy, Fritz, Ora, and infant brother Freddie, and, two sisters; Inza Searle and Alice Cherington.
