Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Sawin-Dyer funeral home, the Rev. A. Wylis Lathan of the Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in the Sabetha cemetery.
Members of the family will meet friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Barnes was born Julyb21, 1884, at Sabetha, a daughter of Michael and Mary Alderfer. She and Mr. Barnes were married at Sabetha, Feb. 1, 1905. He died June 23, 1965.
They moved to Atchison from Sabetha in 1925 and operated the Byram hotel for several years. In later years Mrs. Barnes operated the Barnes Tea Room, 506 North Seventh street, and Mr. Barnes was in the real estate business.
Mrs. Barnes served meals for many years to service clubs, other local organizations and private groups. Many Atchison teachers ate meals regularly at the tea room.
She was a member of the Methodist church and a former member of the Atchison Business and Professional Women's club.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Vance (Viola) Greider, San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. E. W. (Frances) Cooper, Atchison; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Heikes and Mrs. Alfred Close, both of Sabetha; a brother, Harry Alderfer, Sabetha; two grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
