Lydia married John Goodsell on 28 Dec 1834. They had eight children. After John died in 1855, she married Stephen Catt. They left England on June 30, 1868 on the ship "Minnesota." After arriving in the States, they took the train as far as Laramie, Wyoming where they were driven by mule teams to Salt Lake City. They made their home near some of her children in Newton, Utah.
