Frances Mary is the daughter of John GOODSELL and Lydia Mary BALLARD of Hastings, Sussex. She bore 14 children, adopted 1 child, and cared for 8 orphans at varying times. And as though that was not enough, she was a community nurse and wife of a minister. Frances was highly respected by her associates. The Colorado Transcript newspaper reported: "Frances Kemp, pioneer woman of the southern part of this county, passed away last Thursday at the home of her daughter in Denver, after an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Kemp had lived near Conifer for about 33 years... Funeral services...were held at the Conifer church Sunday, a large concourse of sorrowing friends gathering to pay their respects to the memory of this excellent woman."
