Edith S. Ayres, 82, Logansport, died Sunday, June 7, 1980, in Memorial Hospital. Born on Jan. 19, 1898 in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Morris D. and Rose Lane Stone. She was married to George W. Ayers on January 6, 1917, and he died 1940. She then married Jesse L. Ayres on May 6, 1945 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1973. A retired bookkeeper from the Pharos-Tribune, she was a member of Market Street United Methodist Church and the Market Street Church Guild. Surviving are two daughters, Martha D. Parrett, Logansport; Betty Brandt, Sabastian, Fla.; a son, John Ayres, Flora; two brothers, Clarence J. Stone and John K. Stone (85945140), both of Hemet, Calif.; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Moon officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Lawn Cemetery.
