Jesse L. Ayres, 82, of Logansport, Indiana, died at 8:43 p.m. last Friday at Memorial Hospital, Logansport. Born March 14, 1891 near Cutler, he was the son of Ora R. Ayres and Margaret Long Ayres Gimbey. He was married May 6, 1945 in Logansport to Edith Stone who survives. A retired insurance salesman, he was employed for 40 years with the Commonwealth Life Insurance Company, formerly the Empire Life Insurance Company. He also was employed part-time in the advertising department of the Pharos-Tribune & Press. He was a member of the Market Street United Methodist Church, Logansport and the Logansport Eagles Lodge Surviving with the wife are one son, Robert Lee Ayres, Anchorage; two step-sons: William Jennings, Kokomo and John H. Ayres, Flora; two step-daughters: Mrs. Allen Parrett and Mrs. James Brandt, both of Logansport; one sister: Mrs. Zelpha Oakes, Spencer; four grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, one step-son and one step-grandson.
