Anders Peter (Andersson) Andrews was born at Örtomta parish, Östergötlands län, Sweden.

He emigrated to America in 1852. He changed his family name from Anderson to Andrews and was the patriarch of the Andrews family in Lindstrom, MN.

His first wife (name unknown) died in Galena or Rock Island, Illinois about 1852. Two children are attributed to this marriage; Emma Christina and Hilda Sophia. No records for Hilda have been found (in Chisago County) so she may have died prior to the family moving to Minnesota.

In 1856 he married Matilda Christina (Magnusdotter / Carlson) Andrews (1834-1907).

Anders enlisted in the Civil War on 15-Aug-1862 at the age of 42, serving in Co C, 7th Minnesota Infantry Regiment. He was discharged on 16-Aug-1865.

Anders donated land for the cemetery, although it is not clear whether this was the original Lindstrom cemetery at the west end of Newell Avenue, or the newer Fairview cemetery on the east side near the city offices. The Newell Avenue graves were later moved and interred in Block A39 of the new Fairview cemetery, the old location reclaimed as a Lindstrom city park.
