ISLAND PIONEER, MARTIN ANDERSON DIES LAST WEEK

WASHINGTON IS.—Martin Anderson, who has been a resident of this place tor 47 years, died here last week Thursday night at the age of 77 years, 3 months, and 20 days.

Mr. Anderson was born in Denmark. Seven years after his arrival here his wife died leaving him with five children all of whom had grown to a self-supporting age when their father was married again. Five children were born by the second marriage, all of whom survive.

The funeral held here was on the twenty-second anniversary of Mr. Anderson's second marriage. The deceased was a prominent resident of this township, taking a great interest in public and school affairs. In appreciation for his activities in connection with the Detroit Harbor school, the pupils and teachers there expressed their respects at the final rites with a beautiful floral wreath. Many other floral pieces and bouquets were also banked about the casket. The family wishes to express their casket.
