Beverly A. "Bev" Amhof, 71, of Davenport passed away Sunday, April 13th, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society of Davenport after a courageous 53 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m, Thursday, April 17, 2014 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m on Wednesday at the mortuary. Bev will be buried at Davenport Memorial Park next to her parents. Memorial contributions may be made to Davenport Good Samaritan Society.
Bev was born November 2nd, 1942, in Davenport, the daughter of Alvin and Mildred Amhof. She was a 1960 graduate of North Scott Senior High. She later married Alfred "Skip" Oetzel and together they raised two sons, Steve and Dan. She was employed by Northwestern Bell as a sales representative and later by Central Trust and Savings in Eldridge.
She was a member of Risen Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport. Of all of Bev's hobbies, she truly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her two granddaughters.
Survivors include sons Steve (Kim) Oetzel, of Long Grove, and Dan Oetzel, Overland Park, KS; brothers, Ronald (Bonnie) Amhof of Eldridge, Roger (Cheri) Amhof of Davenport and Randy (Dianna) Amhof, of Davenport; granddaughters, Shelby and Kari Oetzel, both of Long Grove; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Alvin and Mildred, and her grandparents.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Good Samaritan Society and Genesis Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Bev in her final days. They would also like to thank Dr. Alsheikha and Dr. Dan Johnson, Bev's doctors for many years.
