Mrs. Althoff was born Oct. 8, 1908, in Watson Township, the daughter of Henry H. and Anna (Worman) Dust. She married Edward Althoff in 1929, and he preceded her in death in 1960.
Agnes worked in the family business, Dusty's Wholesale Accessories/Dusty's Tire Service, in the 1920s. She later worked for Sears in Decatur and for the military at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul during World War II. She was the sole proprietor of the Cloverleaf Motel and remarkably, continued to run the day-to-day affairs of the business until her death.
She also worked for District 12 of Illinois State Police for 31 years, retiring in 1989. Mrs. Althoff was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Effingham.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Sandra Althoff; grandson, Kenny Althoff; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Norbert; and daughter-in-law, Shirley.
The funeral was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Effingham, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Effingham.
