OBITUARY: Holmes County Farmer, Millersburg, Holmes Co., OH, Thursday, 22 Sep 1910.

Death of H. V. Allison

H. V. Allison, son of James and Ann Allison of Monroe township, was born Feb. 23, 1855, died Sept. 10, 1910, after a brief illness in Millersburg at the home of his uncle, David McDowell. He was a sufferer for many years from rheumatism and took many treatments, but it resulted in disability and was attended by constant pain which he endured with great patience and maintained a cheerful spirit through it all. He was a trustworthy citizen and filled some of the most responsible offices in the township. His judgement commended him and made him the choice of the people in settling difficulties that arise among men. He was master of himself and no one ever saw him angry. He was interested in every good work of the community. As a business man he was pleasant, prompt, and fair always willing to assist in the progress of agriculture and stock raising in his county. When a young man and in company with his boy associates he gave his heart to Christ and united with the Church of Christ at Welcome. But none will miss the cheerful spirit and prompt response of his love like the home for he was attached to his home and loved to be with those for whom he lived. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Willmer Walker of Killbuck and A. M. Bird of Barberton and the large gathering of friends and beautiful floral designs were fitting testimonies of his worth in the community. He leaves a wife, three sons, and two daughters, a mother, one brother, and three sisters with many other relatives and friends to mourn his departure. His self sacrificing life bequeaths to us all a worthy example. May we emulate his virtues and cherish sweet memories of him. A.M.B.
