Son of George W ALDRICH and Marietta HALLOCK, married Hattie DOWNS

The community was saddened this past week by the death on Friday, August 23rd of Herman E Aldrich, a lifelong resident of Sound Avenue. For years he was an active deacon of the Sound Avenue Congregational Church. He was currently acting as Treasurer of the Sound Avenue Grange. He was a successful farmer and also interest in all things for the betterment of his community and town.

In 1914 Herman was married to Hattie Downs, daughter of Mr and Mrs John T Downs. His wife and four children survive him. The children are Wells Elisha, who lives in Sauquoit NY, having two children, Alan E and Margaret E; Jack who is single and at home; Harriet, Mrs Robert Umphrey of Tacoma Washington with two daughters, Mary L and Faith R; and Alice, Mrs Thorne Ellis of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, with three daughters, Clarissa A, Kathryn and Elizabeth.

Herman also has one surviving sister, Miss Mary Aldrich. All of the family were home for the funeral held in the Sound Avenue Church on Monday August 26 at 2 PM. Sound Avenue is truly in mourning with this the second death within one week. Mr Charles Arnold officiated at the funeral service.
