According to Dolores Hahn (#47046254), who cites to Who's Who in Nebraska published in 1941, Antje Agena married John Hestermann on Dec. 7, 1888 at Sterling, Nebraska. Their children were: Fred, Herman, Gade, Henry, Bernhard, John, Louis (died before 1941), Margaret (Mrs. Henry Dissmeyer, who died before 1941), Lena (Mrs. William Lane), Rose (Mrs. Herman Boden), and Bertha (Mrs. Martin Eilers).OBITUARY NOTICE
Antje Agena was born on June 10, 1871 at Golden, Adams County, Ill. She was the daughter of John and Geske Agena and was the oldest child in the family. She was baptized in infancy. When she was four years old her parents and family moved to the Sterling community. After receiving her religious instruction she was confirmed on April 3, 1887 at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Pastor Burmeister.
On December 7, 1888 , she was united in marriage with John Hestermann, and to this union was blessed with 11 children of whom 9 survive. They located at first on a farm one-half mile north of Immanuel Church and later moved to a place southwest of Adams, and sometime later they moved back to the Sterling community. Her husband passed away in 1943.
Mrs. Hestermann was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and she attended the church faithfully and regulary until the imfirmities of old age prevented her from doing so.
She passed away Thursday, April 23, 1964, at the Good Samaritan Home in Beatrice. She reached the age of 92 years, 10 months and 13 days.
She is survived by nine children, namely, Fred Hestermann, Herman Hestermann and Gade Hestermann of Sterling; Henry Hestermann of Adams; Ben Hestermann of Sterling; Mrs. William (Lena) Laue of Tecumseh; John Hestermann of Adams; Mrs. Herman (Rosa) Boden of Nemaha; and Mrs. Martin (Bertha) Eilers of Sterling. She is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, 8 great, great grandchildren and by many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband , one son who died in infancy, and one daughter, Mrs. Henry Dissmeyer. She was also preceded by her parents, and four brothers, Harm, Gade, Bernard and Martin Agena and one sister, Mrs. Katie Huls.
Following brief services at the funeral home in Sterling, funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Adams and burial was in the church cemetery. A memorial fund in her memory has been established.
