Donald E. Adcock, Abingdon Chapel 87, of 303 W. Meek St. died at 10:30 am Monday, September 20, 2010 at the Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.
He was born on May 7, 1923 on the family farm in Kelly Township, Warren County, the son of Clarence and Zepha (Sallee) Adcock. He married Madelyn J. Scarbrough on July 27, 1956 in Abingdon. She preceded him in death on April 15, 1984. Don was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Jim and Richard, and two sisters Mary Miller and Martha Livingston.
He is survived by his son, David (and Lynn) Adcock of Galesburg; two grandchildren, Scott and Sarah; one sister, Joan Malcolm of RR Galesburg.
He grew up in Warren County and attended country schools. He was an Army veteran of WW II. He later worked for the Brown Specialty Company in Galesburg for 29 ½ years. He was a member of the Coldbrook Christian Church. He enjoyed gardening and sitting on his porch and in his yard watching Abingdon.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm Thursday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.
