Donald ""Butch"" Abner, 79, Bedford, passed away at 4:09 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at IU Health, Bedford.

Born May 19, 1934, in Winchester, Ky., he was the son of Robert and Maude White Abner, both of whom preceded him in death. On Sept. 9, 1956, in Georgia, he married Mary E. Sermons, who preceded him in death on Nov. 13, 2013.

Donald was of the Lutheran faith.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He retired from Kieffer Paper Mill in Brownstown in 1997 as a forklift driver.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925 of Seymour.

A funeral service will be conducted at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc., Brownstown, with Jame Ginter officiating.

Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown, with military honors presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Veterans 7.
