HOUSTON ADAMS
Funeral services for Houston G. Adams, 58, Machine Tool and Dye instructor at Oklahoma State Tech since 1961, will be held at 11 Tuesday in the Sanctuary of the Church of Christ. Mr. Ralph Baldwin will be the officiant and graveside rites will be at 4 in the Wanette Cemetery under the direction of the Buchanan Funeral Home.
Mr. Adams was born November 2, 1915, in Garvin, Oklahoma, where he was reared and received his normal schooling. He graduated with the Senior Class of 1934 from the St. Louis High School. On July 23, 1941, he was married to the former Opal V. Davis at Tecumseh and they made their first home in Noble, where he was employed with the Navy Air Depot at Norman. In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps where he served as an Airplane and Engine Mechanic until his Honorable Discharge, February 1, 1946 at Lowry Field, Colorado. In 1948, he joined the staff of Bill Pine as a Mechanic and Forman and was in their employment until he went to Oklahoma State Tech in September of 1961 as a Machine Tool and Dye instructor. Mr. Adams was one of the first graduates from Oklahoma Slate Tech in the Auto Mechanics department on February 12, 1948. He had attended Oklahoma State University and had completed 2,000 hours of Industrial School Studies. . Mr. Adams was a Deacon in the Church of Christ. The American Legion Post No. 10, Oklahoma State Tech Advisory board of the V.I.C.A., member of the Trade and Industrial Education Association. Higher Education Alumni Council of Oklahoma. Survivors in addition to his wife Mrs. Opal V. (Jean) Adams of 822 Belmont, include a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Barbara) McFarland, Denton. Tex., three sisters. Mrs. Minnie Wolfe. Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Bess Brock, and Mrs. Romey J. Scott both of Ada. Pallbearers for Mr. Adams.
He is buried in the Wanette Cemetery.
