Barbara Gayle McFarland, 61, of Okmulgee, died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. She was born April 28, 1949 in Morris to the late Houston Gale and Opal Virginia (Davis) Adams. She graduated from East Central State University in Ada where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Barbara married Michael McFarland on February 12, 1971 in Ada. Before returning to Okmulgee in 1994, Barbara and Mike lived in Madill and Tonkawa, where she was active in the Chamber of Commerce and volunteered at the Public Library. She was a faithful member of the Morris Church of Christ. Barbara will be remembered for being a very selfless person, always doing for others. She enjoyed music, sewing and was an avid OU Fan. She was very devoted to her husband Mike and son Tim. A Service to Celebrate Barbara's Life will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the Morris Church of Christ with Mr. Paul Arnold officiating. Darrel Lockard will serve as an honorary casketbearer. The family will receive friends following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
