Richard Beckmann, 83, of Cherokee died April 19 at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital following a one-month illness. He was born Aug. 11, 1889 in Cappel, Germany, to Mr. and Mrs. Markus Beckmann. He was married to Lucille DeNoyer and had farmed in Cherokee and O'Brien Counties all his life.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Merrill (Peggy) Baker of Goleta, Calif, and Mrs. Kenneth (LaVonne) Kruger of LeMars; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Greenwood Funeral Home.
