Services held on Tuesday for Celia L. Helgeson

Celia Leona Helgeson, age 85, of Woodville, died Saturday, June 30, 1984 at the Baldwin Community Memorial Hospital, Baldwin.

She was born October 5, 1898 to the late Matthew and Ameilia (Rudesill) Hampton in Gilman Township, Pierce Co., Wisconsin.

Leona was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Woodville, The church was an important part of Leona's life as she was active in Circle and Ladies Aid. She was also a Charter Member of the Woodville American Legion Auxiliary Unit 301.

On June 20, 1920 Leona was married to Alfred M. Helgeson at St. Paul. The Helgesons lived and farmed east of Woodville for many years before moving to Woodville. Leona enjoyed home and family and was blessed with a family of five children.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Alfred, three sisters, Alma, Pearl, and Maude, and six brothers, Datous, Guy, Chester, Jayue, Leon, and a brother who died in infancy.

Survivors include her five children, Lorree, Mrs. Reuben Hermanson, Woodville; Alden Helgeson, Denver, CO; Wilfred Helgeson, Woodville; Alice, Mrs. Lavern Bertleson, Woodville; and Margaret Ann Helgeson, Minneapolis; seventeen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Monday evening July 2nd at the Keehr Funeral Home in Spring Valley with funeral services Tuesday, July 3rd at Zion Lutheran Church, Woodville, Rev. Vernon Keszler officiating. Mrs. Russell Lund was vocalist and Mrs. Keith Albrightson was organist.

Burial was in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Woodville. Pallbearers were John Helgeson, George Helgeson, Hugh Hampton, Bernard Hampton and Alvin Iverson. Honorary bearers were Howard Helgeson, Virgil Helgeson and John Hampton.
