DEATH CALLS HOME MRS. J. W. ACKLEY

Last Friday afternoon J. W. Ackley received the sad news from Whitehall stating that his wife, who had been visiting there for the past three weeks, had taken a sudden change for the worse and was failing fast. He departed accompanied by his son, Marion, at the same time to go to her bedside that they might see her, but before their arrival at that place received the sad message stating that she had passed away at 4:30 o'clock the same afternoon.

The same word was phoned to this village to other relatives and the following day Mrs. Tucker, Verne and Howard Tucker, mother and brothers of the deceased went to Chippewa Falls where they attended the funeral that was held Monday morning from the Presbyterian church in that city. Vera, the only daughter, was visiting at the Augustine home in Whitehall with her mother and was at her bedside when she passed away.

Word had only the day before been received from Mrs. Ackley stating how strong she was feeling and how she felt she was gaining in health and the sudden news that came to relatives and our citizens was one to be dreaded by all. D. L. Tucker who had been at Whitehall had gone to Lodi only a few days before, thinking that his daughter was gaining in strength and little realized that the end was so near.

The sad news that came to her friends in this village brought only words of sympathy from those that had come to know her, and yet, while the end was expected at times it came as a shock to all. We can only express words of condolence to the members of the immediate family and relatives, joining with the entire community in the grief that will be borne by all.

OBITUARY

Fannie Alice Tucker was born July 31, 1876, at Whitehall, Wisconsin, and died in that village Friday April 13, 1917, at the age of 40 years, 8 months and 13 days.

She was married on February 1, 1895, to James Waite Ackley at Chippewa Falls, where they continued to reside until they moved to this village twelve years ago. Three sons, Marion, Floyd and Kenneth, and one daughter, Vera blessed this union, all living to mourn her departure except Floyd.

Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Tucker, survive her besides two brothers, Verne and Howard Tucker of this village.

She was a faithful mother, a loving wife and one to be liked by all, assisting in the work of upbuilding in a community, being up to the time of her affliction a leading worker in church and community undertakings.
