Frederick Arney had Spinal Meningitis when he was a small boy and was left partially crippled. He was killed by a falling tree when he was 14, because he was unable to move out of the way. Frederick was John and Mary's third child to die in Jefferson Township, Owen County, Indiana. They are buried in the Fiscus Family cemetery near Arney, Indiana.
