Frank Axtell, son of Hyra and Mary Axtell was born in Walnut, IL. on November 9, 1866. He came to Carleton with his parents in his early teens.
He was united in marriage to Amanda Hartley of Belvidere, NE. on June 5, 1892.
To this union eight children were born. The oldest died in infancy. Surviving were; Maude, Bertha, Elva, Velma, Howard and twins, Virgil and Virginia.
The family settled on a farm near Coon-Ridge.
Amanda passed away from childbirth in 1912.
Later Frank moved his family into Carleton, NE, where he
resided until he passed away in 1942.
Maude, Elva,Velma, Howard and Virginia all stayed in the Carleton/Hebron/Edgar area where they married and raised their
families. Bertha and Virgil moved to California with
their families.
