Edith E. Bolin, 88
Edith E. Bolin died at her home and was called to glory on Sunday, September 28, 2003. Edith was born on June 19, 1915, the daughter of Gust and Ellen (Shogren) Mattson. She grew up on their farm two miles south of Carlos and attended District 77 school. On June 29, 1941, she married Reuben Bolin at Fahlun Lutheran Church and moved to the Bolin farm a mile south of her childhood home where they lived and farmed together.
Edith was a lifelong member of Fahlun Lutheran Church. She enjoyed many activities there including Bible study, choir and teaching Sunday school and confirmation. She served as organist for 42 years. Edith was also a leader in the Liberty Livewires 4-H Club. She was a skilled seamstress, enjoyed needlework, reading, crossword puzzles, board games, baking bread and especially God's creation. After retirement Edith volunteered in the community and enjoyed traveling with Reuben around the country. She had a good sense of humor. Most of all Edith trusted in the hope of the risen Lord and loved her family and friends.
Edith is survived by her husband: Reuben of Nelson; her children: Douglas Bolin of Nelson; Judy and husband Al Peraino of Mt. Vernon, WA; Kathy Bolin of Rochester; and Donovan Bolin of Fergus Falls; grandchildren: LTJG Kristin Peraino of Gulf Port, MS; Rachel Peraino of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; Marc Peraino of Mt. Vernon, WA; Jesse Bolin of Minnesota Lake; and Jason Bolin of Eagle Lake; great-granddaughter: Skylar Ann Larson of Minnesota Lake; sisters: Reggie Olstead, Ethel Nelson, Eunice Gordon and Gloria Southward all of Alexandria; sister-in-law: Ruth Mattson of Alexandria; brother-in-law: Floyd Bolin of Alexandria; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Edith was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers: Ruben and Edwin Mattson.
A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Marilee Bergerson, was held on October 2, 2003, with organist, Barb Sather and soloist, Doug Tatge.
Inurnment was in Fahlun Lutheran Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Bolin, Marc Peraino, Joel Blank, Norman Johnson, Allen Ljung and Ray Suchy.
Anderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
