Richard Leslie was married twice. His first wife was Caldonia Pendleton b.abt 1872 in Lawrence County, MO. They married on 18 Aug 1889 in Aurora, Lawrence, MO., however she died, I believe, between 1891 & 1894, causes unknown. They had one son. It is interesting that in the 1900 census, Caldonia's father, George W. Pendleton is listed as living only 2 houses from Richard Leslie Akin.

Second Marriage for Richard Leslie Akin was on 28 Mar 1895 to Elizabeth Francis Turner b.20 Oct 1875 in Webster County, MO and died on 26 Aug 1930 in Carl Junction, Twin Groves, Jasper County, MO. They had 9 more children.

It is interesting to note that Richard Leslie began changing his name in 1900 to R.L Akin, then in 1920 & 1930 to Robert L. Akin. I cannot find the 1910 census for him. His Missouri Death Certificate had a first name scratched out and the first name of Robert added. I do not know what the reason could have been, unless he was changing it because of the previous marriage, however, his gravestone bears his correct name.
