Lawrence Abraham Barnhart, age 75 years of Rt. 1, Meta, Mo., passed away Wednesday, February 16, 1977 at Memorial Community Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo. Mr. Barnhart was born June 14, 1901 in Maries County in Van Cleve, Mo., the son of Harmon and Hestella (Pendelton) Barnharat. He was united in marriage on March 10, 1921 to Irena Woody who survives of the home.

Mr. Barnhart, a well-known stockman and farmer in the Meta, Mo. area, lived there most all his life except for a few years spent in Dixon, Mo. where he worked at Fort Leonard Wood. He also worked for at time as a guard at the State Penitentiary in Jefferson City, Mo.

Mr. Barnhart was a faithful member of the Campground Christian Church and had been a board member for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Gertie Myers in 1962 and 1 son, Carlos Barnhart in 1974.

Surviving other than his wife, Irena, are 1 son, Wayne A. Barnhart of Waynesville, Mo.; 1 brother, Euel Barnhart of Troy, Mo.; 1 sister, Mrs. Laura McKee of Dixon, Mo.; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19 at the Campground Christian Church with Rev. Earl Jones and Rev. Wayne Bogue officiating. Interment was in the Pendleton Cemetery under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home of Meta, Mo. Pallbearers were John Veach, Greg Barnhart, Rodney Barnhart, David Barnhart, Dr. Howard Neeley and Orville Pendleton. Honorary pallbearer was Tommy Barnhart.
