Son of Charles and Hannah Morehead'Martin' Hanks. Enoch lived in Macon Co., IL before and after his marriage and his children were born. In 1865, the children of Charles Hanks were giving to each other quit claim deeds to land near Decatur and some in Pike County. Around that time Enoch moved his family to Brown County and purchased land in 1866 and again in 1873. He lived on a farm across the road from Pike County in Brown County, in the southeast corner in Elkhorn Township until his death in 1910.

Enoch married Mary Ann Campbell on November 21, 1850 in Macon Co., IL. Enoch and Mary Ann had 4 children: Lucinda Jane, Louis Jackson "Jack", Jacob Monroe and Charles Emerson, who died when he was 4.
