Iona Anderson, 89, Hillsboro, ND passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020 at Sanford Long Term Care Center in Hillsboro, ND.
Iona Marie Herbeck was born October 12, 1930 in rural Traill County, the daughter of Harry and Gurena (Smette) Herbeck. She grew up in Buxton, ND and graduated from Buxton High School. Iona married Tilman Anderson on December 1, 1950, settling in Hillsboro where they farmed until 1991.
She was an active farmwife and a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. She enjoyed her family activities, as well as playing golf and cards with friends.
Iona is survived by her four children, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Iona was preceded in death by her husband, Tilman, on June 20, 2010; her parents; grandson, Blake Kragness; brothers, Howard and Gordon Herbeck; sisters, Ruth Gustafson and Shirley Pulskamp.
