Knightdale - Henry Clay Cooper, 72, of Rt. 5, Raleigh, died Tuesday in a Raleigh hospital after an extended illness.

Mr. Cooper was a native of Onslow County and was a retired storekeeper.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mattie Lee Cooper; three daughters, Mrs. June Turnipseed of Cary, Mrs, Faye Glossen of Knightdale and Mrs. Gloria Gore of High Point; seven grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jessie Jones of Warsaw; two brothers, Jim and Lee Cooper of Richlands; and two half sisters and one half brother.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Knightdale United Methodist Church by the Rev. James Oliver and the Rev. Harold Leatherman. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
