Nathaniel B. Finch
Many hearts were saddened to learn
of the death of Nathaniel B. Finch, of
Toddsville, which occurred at his late
home Sunday the '25th ihst., at 12:30
a. m. after an illness of several years
with diabetes which culminated in a
len weks' confinement-to the house, during
which time he received the most
tender care from his devoted wife and
daughter.
Funeral services were held at the/
home Tuesday at 2 o'clock p. m., the
Rev. W. H. Horton, assisted by the Rev.
A. D, Finch, officiating, interment at
Flycreek. The exceptionally large number
in attendance, many beaiitiful floral
offerings, and expressions of sympathy
and sorrow attest the esteem and respect
in which the deceased was held by
a wide circle of friend/ and acquaintances
who extend their sincere sympathy
to the bereaved family.
Mr. Finch was born in Seward, Schoharie
county sixty-six years ago the
16th of last September, came to Toddsville
with his parents when eight years of
age and had since resided there. United
in marriage with Miss Adelia Ohapin,
May 16th, 1S67, their married life had
been one of mutual affection and helpfulness.
A son and daughter were born
of. this union and the home life was
ideal. The death of the son four years
asio last August was a severe blow to
the parents and sister, and this added
bereavement has nearly prostrated the
surviving mother and sister. •
"Brock," as he was known to a large
circle of friends, was of a happy, genial
nature which ..won-and held the friendship
and esteem of all, a man of the
strictest integrity and high ideals, a
member of the Methodist Episcopal
church for sixteen years and a steward
for twelve years, president and for several
years superintendent of the Toddsville
cemetery. Always public spirited
and ready to endorse and assist any
suggestion for the greatest good to the
largest number, he will be sadly missed
not only in the family, but by arf with
whom he has associated. A sincere
Christian, he met the great change with
a confidence that will be a solace and
inspiration to the bereaved members of
the family.
Mr. Finch was employed for many
years by the Union Cotton Mills Company,
later with the late James Fj
Clark and Fenimorc Knitting Company.
Tlis last five years were with the Arthur
H. Crist Company, in all cf which positions
he was a faithful and valued employee.
Surviving are the widow, one daughter,
Mrs. Leon D. Pope, one brother,
Doming Finch of Salt Springville, and
also a large number of nephews and
nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces,
who will ever hold a tender memory of
