Jean Lyon Daynes was the daughter of John Frederick Daynes, a jeweler, and Mary Lyon Anson. Jean had two years of college, worked as a stenographer in a Los Angeles insurance office and was the first wife and business partner of Palm Springs Mayor Ed McCoubrey; they were married February 22, 1932. Jean had previously been married to Eugene Callister Hinckley, a business college teacher, whom she wed in Salt Lake City, 1922.
