Mrs. Baker was born April 3, 1929, in Sevierville, the daughter of Robert and Rosa Maples Ogle.
She and Virgil Lee Baker were united in marriage, in Detroit, in 1954. Mrs. Baker worked for General Plating, in Detroit, more than 20 years. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, cross-stitch, fishing, hunting, boating, riding motorcyles, nurturing (being a grandma), gardening and watching NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon.
Left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses: Shirley and Brian Peterson, James and Laura Baker, Ronald and Jean Baker; sister, Mary Catlett; 19-1/2 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; very special friends, Mike and Kelly Urban; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Sept. 12, 2012, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Baker-Tollison Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m., Sept. 11, 2012, at the funeral home. Charles Ogle will officiate.
