Dutch Wilkes was the son (and perhaps youngest child) of Mitchell County, Georgia, farmer William I. Wilkes (ca. 1850-1931) and Annie Wilkes (ca. 1860-1941,) both of whom died in Colquitt County, Georgia. Family trees on Ancestry.com state, without any sources, that Dutch married Esther Naomi Edmondson (1899-1974.)
