Jacob SAYLER born 16 April 1847 in Johannestal, Beresan, Odessa, South Russia was the son of Gottlieb SAYLER Sr. and Margaretha SAUER.

Jacob married Christina KAUTZ in 1869 in Johannestal, Beresan, Odessa, South Russia. This union was blessed with 15 children.

Jacob SAYLER at the age of 52 with his wife Christina and their children; Johann, Christina, Gottlieb, Friedrich, Karl, Andreas, Christian and Alvina, immigrated to America via the Port of Bremen, Germany on the 4th of April 1899 aboard the SS "Lahn" and arrived at Ellis Island, New York on the 21st of April 1899.

Their final destination recorded as Eureka, South Dakota to join their oldest son Jacob SAYLER Jr. The ship's manifest also revealed that Jacob SAYLER had $750 in his pocket when he arrived in America.
