Livonia Gazette
Livonia, Livingston County, New York.
Friday, November 3, 1876

We are called upon to chronicle the sad intelligence and death of Edwin C. Hartso, son of Arnold Hartson, who was taken dangerously ill on Friday, Oct. 20th, while returning from Hemlock Lake. A physician was in attendance Friday night, but his efforts to remove the fatal malady were unsuccessful. After suffering untold agonies for nearly thirty five hours, he passed quietly and peacefully away into a better life. Death was caused by neuralgia of the bowels an old complaint which he was subject. His last words although few were consoling to his bereaved friends. Deceased leaves a wife and child to mourn his absence from their happy home, and being in the prime of life, nearly thirty six years, we shall miss him in our community. The services were conducted by Rev. R. Marean of South Livonia which were impressive, and at one o'clock p.m. the long procession moved toward the beautiful cemetery at Scottsburg, where his remains were consigned to their last resting place.

To tbe Editor of the Livonia Gazette:

The, sudden death of Mr. E. C. Hartson, which occurred last week, is regretted by a large circle of friends in this section. Mr. Hartson was well known, having lived at the lake from boyhood up. His age was thirty six years instead of forty six as you stated last week.
