According to the family history, "A son of George and Ann Oxley Tomlinson. Ten adults in all. James was born near Jacksonville, Illinois. Moved to near Maxwell, Iowa in 1869. James A. Tomlinson, born 1861, died 1936. Married Effie Pierson. No children."

Mrs. Effa Mae (Tommie) Tomlinson, 83-year-old widow of James A. Tomlinson, of 106 North Market street, died Friday at 1:20 p.m. at the Ottumwa hospital where she had been a patient four days.

The daughter of Archibald and Mary Atkins Pierson, she was born April 16, 1866, at Carlisle, Iowa. Her marriage to James A. Tomlinson took place in 1882 at Des Moines. The couple lived at Marion, Iowa, following their marriage, moving to Ottumwa 45 years ago. Mrs. Tomlinson was a member of the First Methodist church.

Her husband preceded her in death July 10, 1936.

Surviving are two nieces, Miss Prudence A. Nicholas of Des Moines and Mrs. Lee Rader of Chicago; and one nephew, Fred P. Nicholas of Seattle, Wash.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Carroll Reece funeral home in charge of the Rev. Howard P. Buxton. Burial will be in the Glendale cemetery at Des Moines."
