Martin was the son of Henry Lohr Sr and Margaret Spath Lohr; and husband of Emma Zimmerman Lohr.

His mother, her sister Maria and brother Anton came to the USA in 1857. Anton Spath settled in the Cross Keys area of Baltimore, while the Lohr family lived in the Frederick Road area of west Baltimore.

Martin Lohr was a barkeeper in Baltimore when he was young and lived at 47 Weyler.

For many years, starting in 1905, Martin Lohr and his brother-in-law Francis Fritze were partners in a florist business in Athol Heights, Frederick Ave.
