Born in Rye Cove, she was a daughter of the late James P. and Ellen Cox Horton. She was a graduate of Rye Cove High School and Radford College . She was a teacher in the Scott County School System for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers and several nieces and nephews.
Surviving are a brother, J.P. Horton of Big Stone Gap, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Horton Family Cemetery in Rye Cove with Rev. Ronnie Mutter and Rev. Joe Hill officiating.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Horton Family Cemetery fund.
The Duffield Funeral Home at Thomas Village is in charge of the arrangements.
