Myrtle Maxine Mohler, 84, of Fort Madison, died at 4:20 pm Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born July 23, 1927, in Galesburg, IL, she was the daughter of Walter A. and Amy Ruth McDowell Cooksey. On December 18, 1943, she married Anthony Joseph "Tony" Mohler in Galesburg, IL. He died March 7, 2005

Maxine and her husband Tony farmed in Union, Iowa. She also was a caregiver for her mother, a sitter for people in the nursing homes, and individuals in their own homes.

She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. She was confirmed on May 31, 1964. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and raised geese. She loved her little dog, Sammy, and reading her Bible.

Survivors include her sister, Helen Deethardt of Fort Madison; one brother, Walter A. Cooksey Jr. of Rossville, GA; her niece, Mary Jane (Richard) Huston of West Burlington, and other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother George, and one sister Rose.

Interment will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery
