Helen Deethardt, 87, of Fort Madison, died at 5:05 am Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at the Fort Madison Health Center in Fort Madison.
Born July 14, 1925, in Galesburg, she was the daughter of Walter A. and Amy Ruth McDowell Cooksey. She married Norman Deethardt. He died April 2, 2006.
Helen worked as an accountant for a financial group in Mount Pleasant.
She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. She was president of American Ladies Auxiliary in Florida and past member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed fishing in the ocean with her husband, cookouts in their backyard, and golfing.
Survivors include her brother, Walter A. Cooksey, Jr. of Rossville, GA; three nieces, Mary Jane (Richard) Huston of West Burlington, Lisa Cooksey, and Marlene Cooksey; three nephews, Jerry A. Lamb, Chris Cooksey, and Samuel Cooksey.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, George Cooksey, and two sisters, Rose White, and Maxine Mohler.
Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Davenport.
