Harold William Kasper, 91, of Grants Pass died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011.Viewing will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. in Hull & Hull's chapel. Interment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.since1928hull.com.He was born Sept. 24, 1919, in Lookout, Calif., to Rebecca Mae Kasper and Eli William Kasper. When he was a young child, he moved to Klamath Falls with his family. He later became a stone mason and went into business with his father.On June 8, 1940, he married Carolyn Alice Joli, who died in 2005. During World War II, he served in the Army in the Philippines. After the war, he lived in Klamath Falls until 1947, when he moved his family to Eureka, Calif., to participate in church work. He also worked in the mills in Eureka. In 1969, he moved to Grants Pass, where he worked for Cascade Block until his retirement.He was active in the Apostolic Faith Church as a Sunday school teacher, music director and minister throughout his life until he suffered a stroke in 2006. He volunteered at rest homes and participated in other ministries. He enjoyed music, building, oil painting, rock collecting, gardening and writing poetry and songs.Survivors include four children, Arlene Bright of Myrtle Creek, Loretta Jordan of Eureka, David Kasper of Applegate, and Debbie Burton of Grants Pass; a brother, Floyd Kasper of Medford; nine grandsons and 30 great-grandchildren.Three brothers, Frankie, Clarence and Paul, and two sisters, Alma Brown and Verna Mincks, died before him.
