Norman Lewis Perrin was born August 28th, 1930 in Odem, Texas. He was the fifth of seven children of Ernest Franklin Perrin and Etta D. Clark. He enlisted in the Army July 19, 1950 attending basic training then was selected for the airborne infantry and completed Jump School (Airborne Army Aviation Section, The Infantry School). After completing 10 months of training he arrived in Korea assigned to the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team (ARCT) in early May 1951. The entire 187th was moved to Beppu, Japan in June 1951 to become a strategic reserve where he attended a specialized construction school. The 187th was brought back to Korea in May 1952 to help with the Koje-do POW camp uprising. Just one month later with the riots quelled he returned to Japan and the 187th made its final trip to Korea in June 1953. Once his enlistment was completed Norman moved back to Odem got married, divorced and found work at the Odem Post Office as a Clerk. In 1961, at the age of 31, Norman passed away.
