GRANDMA RATHMAN IS DEAD; ANOTHER WASHINGTON COUNTY PIONEER ANSWERS THE LAST CALL

The demise of Mrs. George D. Rathmann, which occurred last Monday morning at 6 o'clock, while not altogether unexpected, caused a general feeling of sorrow in the community of which she had been a part, loved and respected by all who were favored with her acquaintance, for so many years. Her aged husband and family of sturdy sons and daughters have the heart-felt sympathy of their many friends in their bereavement. Deceased was born in Holstein, Germany, in the year 1834, married to George D. Rathmann there in 1856 and came to this country and to Omaha in 1862, soon after settling in this county where Mr. R's brothers, Chris and John, had preceded him. Ten children, eight of whom survive her were born to them.

Jacob Houck, a prominent German-American speaker and an old friend of the family, of Omaha, will deliver the funeral discourse in Germania Hall on Saturday at one o'clock P.M.
